"Like the Bishops, what [More] wanted was not freedom of conscience regarding matters of religion, but for his own view of religious orthodoxy to prevail."

"The sainted More" was also partly responsible for the last 500 years of Tudor black propaganda smearing the reputation of Richard III, a Renaissance prince who was admittedly no saint himself but was nothing like the Eeeeeevil!!!! villain of Shakespeare's play. Lying for one's political master's benefit didn't bother More's oh-so-pure conscience one little bit.
