The definition of Liberation Theology as the Sunday School Jesus and what you learned when you were a kid irritates me. It expresses, whether intentional or not, the attitude of too many academics who don't think they need to take works by liberation theologians seriously because they are written off as simple, not constructive and not rigorous. Liberation theology as it develops into post-colonial theology, disability theology, and on and on, is not simply common sense Christian knowledge. I understand the point was to make it "not scary" but its a shame it was done with such a characterization.
